My Services
AP Computer Science A or AP Computer Science Principles
$100/hour
Taking AP CS at school or looking to self-study the AP CS exam and take it without having the class? I can help with MC and short-answer question prep.
College Level Data Structures and Algorithms
$125/hour
Many students struggle with their first computer science classes in college; there’s a steep learning curve. I can help with any homework for introductory classes, reviewing class lectures or slides, studying for exams, and explaining confusing topics.
College Level Logic Based Classes
$125/hour
Many colleges require some kind of proof-based logic class for CS Majors and Minors. These classes are difficult because they do not require any coding but rather are more like theoretical math classes. I can help explain concepts and work through homework solutions and writing, including LaTeXing if required.
About me
I’m Dessie, I have a BS in Computer Science from Caltech and 5+ years of experience in the tech industry as a software engineer at Microsoft and Google. Teaching has been a passion of mine since I was in high school. I tutored math and science to other high school students, taught at Girls Who Code Clubs, TAed intro to computer science classes while I was an undergrad, and continued to teach while I was working full-time in tech through various outreach programs. Now, I help students privately through 1:1 instruction remotely.
Previous student’s school include:
Caltech
Vanderbilt
Garden City High School
Hunter College High School
Book a session
Interested in working together? Have questions before you want to schedule a time to meet? Reach out to me! I’ll get back to you within 48 hours.
I book up to 2 hours at a time with students. If we have not met before, we’ll spend the first 15 minutes discussing what class you’re in, what your background is, and what your goals are. If you are based in the Seattle area, we can discuss meeting in person, otherwise, I conduct all sessions remotely and use online whiteboards and screensharing to work with students.
